Operations Manual

Objective. The purpose of this operating manual is to regulate the organization and operation of Journal of Latin American Geriatric Medicine.

 

Definitions. The following abbreviations are included in this Operations Manual:

- CONAMEGER: Colegio Nacional de Medicina Geriátrica

- Publisher: Publicaciones Permanyer 

- Journal: Journal of Latin American Geriatric Medicine

 

General Terms:

• These provisions shall be mandatory for everybody involved in the functioning of the Journal, authors, and peer reviewers alike. 

• The CONAMEGER is the proprietor of the Journal, of the rights of the registered trademark, and the corresponding copyrights.

• During the agreement between CONAMEGER and the Publisher, the latter holds all rights regarding the publication of the Journal. 

• Both the trademark and copyrights owned by the CONAMEGER should be acknowledged in writing by the Publisher. In addition, the Publisher will disclaim that the Journal is the official publication of CONAMEGER.

• The Journal shall be published biannually, online, and in English.

• The content of the Journal will be available as open access to the scientific community, at no expense for the authors or the readers. 

• The Associate Editors will be appointed by the Editor-in-Chief.

•  The members of the Journal’s Editorial Board will be selected based on their experience and position within their scientific discipline, their knowledge on the subject, and their understanding of the current or anticipated geographical scope of the Journal’s scientific discipline.  

 

Composition:

• The Journal’s personnel consist of 1 Editor-in-Chief, 5 Coeditors, the Editorial Board, and the International Editorial Board.

• The Editor-in-Chief should have experience in the editorial field and will be responsible for implementing the best editorial practices in the process scientific evaluation, and editing, of the manuscripts submitted. Moreover, they will care for the efficiency and agility of the editorial processes, identifying risks, and implementing improvement plans if it need be.  

• The Associate Editors must have editorial experience. Their job is to support the Editor-in-Chief in all their functions, evaluate manuscripts associated with their subject/matter field, as well any other functions they may be assigned to. 

• The members of the Editorial Board shall be able to remain indefinitely in their positions based on their active participation in the processes of the Journal.  Their job includes providing an inclusive editorial standpoint, promoting, and attracting new authors, reviewing studies associated with their subject/matter field, suggesting initiatives, and contributing as authors.
